Yulia Tymoshenko made a statement on dismissal of Arsenii Yatseniuk from the post of Parliament's Speaker
The Verkhovna Rada dismissed Arsenii Yatseniuk elected to the post of speaker of the Verkhovna Rada from the democratic team in the Parliament which entered the Verkhovna Rada by a majority vote on the grounds of people’s choice at the 2007 parliamentary elections.
Ms. Tymoshenko believes that dismissal of Arsenii Yatseniuk was realized by votes of the part of Our Ukraine faction and it is absolutely clear for the politicians today that without direct order of the President such dismissal of the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada could fail. She says there is no need to look for locksmiths and sanitary technicians in the Presidential Secretariat and artificially look for guilty – President is directly personally responsible for dismissal of Arsenii Yatseniuk. To her mind, this is the way the President wants to pave to the pre-term parliamentary elections because he needs those decisions of the Verkhovna Rada which have not been passed by the Parliament under Arsenii Yatseniuk’s speakership.
"The history of the whole world has known many betrayals. There are stories about Judas, and Brutus and colonel Iskra (who betrayed Mazepa). Unfortunately, the present situation in the politics will enter the newest history of Ukraine practically within the same context" - said Tymoshenko.
"I think that our next steps will be absolutely predictable. We’ll try today against a backdrop of all these shameful events to revive the Democratic coalition. Either in the form of BYT and OU-PS but without betrayers or try to carry on all necessary negotiations to create a Coalition of three with participation of the Lytvyn Bloc" concluded Tymoshenko.
