UKRAINE IS PLANNING TO CUT IMPORT OF RUSSIAN GAS IN 2010?!

Ukraine is planning to reduce the amount of Russian gas to be imported to Ukraine in 2010 to 25 billion cubic meters, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has said on August 20, 2009 in Lviv. "This year, we have bought 33 billion cubic meters of Russian gas, and next year we'll import 25 billion cubic meters," she said at an annual meeting of the World Congress of Ukrainians.  Tymoshenko said that Ukraine was also planning to introduce energy saving and alternative types of fuel. Ukrainians are not concerned over the financial crisis?

48% of Ukrainians think that the financial crisis does not have direct influence on their personal financial situation. A “Deloit” official told a press conference in IMC. According to him, the survey of the consumers’ activity on the threshold of Christmas and New Year holidays revealed that the majority of European states don’t feel negative influence on their personal financial situation. “In Ukraine opinions were divided – 52% of population state that the financial crisis effected their financial situation. 38% of Ukrainians also state that the economic situation will get worse,” he noted. Fitch reacted negatively

Increasing of the monetary, inflationary and political risks in Ukraine brought the Fitch rating agency to lower the prognosis of country rating from "stable" to "negative". Such decision is caused by the concern of further growth of foreign trade deficit on a background of the expected appreciation of gas upvalue and metal write down. Experts state that it was the Fitch’s expected step and it will result in increasing the cost of bringing in money for banks which an international agency rates. Poland is ready to pass Euro-2012 to other country

The president of the Polish football federation Mikhal Listkevich expressed his disturbance concerning that fact that UEFA can disable Poland and Ukraine to conduct the Europe championship 2012.
